The Chain of Lakes

Winter Haven is home to over 50 lakes connected by a network of canals that wind through various neighborhoods in the area. Originally built to transport citrus crops, the water system now serves as the venue for various water adventures and activities.

There are two Chains of Lakes in Winter Haven, the southern chain and the northern chain. They’re connected by a canal lock system, which was opened in 2011.

You can navigate your way from one lake to another through these canals. Along the shores are plenty of rentals offering various equipment and facilities for fishing and other activities. You can rent jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, pontoon boats and many more. If you have a taste for extreme adventures, you may want to try out fly boarding and hang gliding.
